Our Year 7 Maths students took part in the Wizard Tournament at Hardenhuish this morning. Here is their take on the events of the morning;
"We went to the Hardenhuish School in Chippenham to participate in the Year 7 Wizard Tournament. There were 3 different rounds consisting of unique challenges. The first round was the main tournament part – there were 8 stations which were based around different subjects in maths. Each station had 3 different questions and getting them right would lead to us gaining Magic Cones (these were the points used for the competition). After the quick break, round 2 took place. The picture round. There were pictures of famous wizards, witches and magicians which we had to name. The last round came shortly after the second round – the poster round. We had to design a poster based on spell symbols – they consisted of a 3x3 square with shaded in units, they also had to have at least 1 line of symmetry. The judging of the posters then took place whilst we waited patiently. It turns out our group came 1st overall out of the 14 competing teams. This is the first time anyone from John Bentley has won the competition. Overall it was a great day and tons of fun."
Huge congratulations to Jonty, Rhiannon, Jess, Sophie, Harry, Sam and Sam!
