KS3 ICT
Students follow an interesting and engaging curriculum where they will further develop their KS2 ICT capabilities and apply them creatively using more up-to-date packages e.g. Movie Maker, Photostory, and Flash etc by doing a series of project based activities. They are timetabled two lessons per fortnight.
There is also a well developed cross-curricular ICT programme where all departments use ICT tools like interactive whiteboards to present information in ever more engaging ways. Departments also have at their disposal their own trollies of laptops, or network rooms where students will extend on their ICT capabilities to achieve specific curriculum objectives in a subject area.
KS4 ICT
We run an OCR National ICT option course 4 lessons per week. This is a Btec type course meaning it is continuous assessment with no exams and graded using Distinction, Merit and Pass grades. Our pupils can get the equivalent of 4 C's or higher at GCSE by studying this course.
The course consists of doing a series of multimedia activities on the central theme of the London Olympics. Students will eventually build a fully interactive promotional web-site with its own logo, animated character and downloadable promotional video and game.
KS5 ICT
At KS5 we offer a Btec National Award in ICT which is the equivalent of one full A-level. However, this is a two year commitment where students cannot study for one year and end with an AS level equivalent. Like all Btec courses it is continuous assessment using grades Distinction, Merit and Pass.
Our pupils continue to do video, animation and web-page design type projects but at a more advanced level. In addition, one of the units is hands on and allows students to acquire the basic skills of a technician e.g. they will learn to replace sound and video cards, add more RAM, reinstall the operating system, install printer drivers etc.
