2 lessons per fortnight for KS3 as well as opportunities in all curriculum areas.

The "two lessons per week" structure starting this year is an exciting new development at JBS.  This is in addition to the release of our new website, Virtual Learning Environment and a major spend on equipment (4 network rooms with brand new flat screen monitors and 18 new e-whiteboards in normal classrooms).

Students will follow an interesting and engaging curriculum where they will further develop their KS2 ICT capabilities and apply them creatively using more up-to-date packages e.g. Movie Maker, Photostory, and Flash etc.

There is also a well developed cross-curricular ICT programme where all departments use ICT tools like interactive whiteboards to present information in ever more engaging ways. They also have at their disposal their own trollies of laptops, or network rooms where students will extend on their ICT capabilities to achieve specific curriculum objectives in a subject area.

Finally the ICT Department intends to lead the way in the development of new online courses using our Moodle based VLE.  Eventually all our resources will be accessible over the internet and our pupils will build up an online portfolio of learning where their private grade book will track their performance year to year.  In addition, teachers will be able to use new learning tools like forums, polls, quizzes and wikis to make learning more fun and engaging.

N.B. follow our VLE link to find out more about this development.
