The Creative Arts Department at The John Bentley School is a high achieving vibrant, and creative environment where students have the opportunity to experience art, dance, drama, media, music and photography within the curriculum. The disciplines of the Creative Arts are among the most powerful forces for developing individuals supporting them to realise a sense of personal growth and achieve excellence throughout their educational career. We aim to use the Creative Arts as a vehicle for developing well-rounded, confident learners and this extends beyond the classroom through our offer of an extensive extra curricular programme both in the school and within the wider community.
KS3 Creative Arts
Students study Art, Dance, Drama, and Music at Key Stage 3 as well as elements of Media.
The focus is on developing creativity, imagination and empathy and the ability to work with and understand the people around us. We pride ourselves on our enjoyable, safe and inclusive learning environments, alongside the fantastic work our students create.
The emphasis in Key Stage 3 is to learn the skills for each art form as well as developing social and evaluative skills that are vital across the curriculum.
We aim to teach topics that engage and challenge the students, but also give them a wider view of the world around them. For this reason we work on constantly being innovative with our lessons.
