A Level English Literature
Examination Board: AQA
Contact Teacher: Mr Savery
English Literature A-Level allows students to thrive in a discussion-based environment. We critically analyse a range of texts; from prose to poetry and drama. In Year 12 students will undertake the study of The Great Gatbsy, Death of a Salesman, Othello and Keats’ poetry through the lens of tragedy. Year 13 then moves to the study of Politcal and Social Protest writing, with students reading The Handmaid’s Tale, The Kite Runner and selected Blake and Morrison poetry. Students are able to extend and challenge their own interpretations of text through the application of the critical anthology, and develop their independent, critical analysis through the coursework module: Theory and Independence.
